Music Recitals:

There are two music recitals in Calgary for our music students to show off their skills each year.

For information see the upcoming events.

For Ages 5 to 17:

Our students love attending the Imagine Music Inc. recitals. There is always a mix of many different instruments, ages and musical styles.  Our performer's parents are very supportive and everybody tends to stay engaged. There is a potluck reception following every recital.  Everyone eats and visits. It is very much a community as we see the same music students and their families every year. We have found that our recitals have developed into a network as most people seem to know each other.

As a parent, you really get to see the personalities of the kids by the songs they pick. All the children have to speak into the microphone and introduce themselves and their piece. Some tell jokes or stories about what they are playing. Some of speeches are quite funny. We really promote a non-competitive atmosphere as our goal is for the kids to enjoy playing  their music for others.

Our recitals will have everything from Classical to Folksongs to Heavy Metal to Jazz . Some of our students are so excited about the recital that they pick their songs on their own 6 months in advance.  Now that's exciting!

For the Adults Students:

The adult recital is very low key event and at held at the Imagine Music Inc office/studio. We have lots of fun and it is always a potluck!

Here is an email from one of our clients who attended but was too shy to play.

-----------------------------------

Hi Jennifer,

I just wanted to thank you again for the inviting me to the recital. I had a really wonderful time listening to all of your students and instructors (and you!). I have hardly ever had a chance in my life to listen to others play the piano, occasionally Judy on her organ...but other than that, only CD's!

I learned so much from your students! Your students have such poise and were so courageous to perform. The most valuable lesson of all was that when you make an error, you just gracefully carry on. That takes a lot of concentration and practice. I've been incorporating that into my practice and my lesson with Lisa last night as well. My goal for the year is to increase my confidence and ability to play in front of others. So thank you for a wonderful afternoon, it was such a great experience. And I promise that I shall play a piece next time! If you remember, please convey to Suzanne how much I enjoyed her piece especially. I was encouraged by her as she is nearest my skill level and she played very calmly and gracefully and with such poise.
Take care,
Lorna
p.s. I also really loved American Pie! It's always been one of my favorite songs!"
